Mara Liasson talk to benefit local NVNG news

NPR’s national political correspondent Mara Liasson will be in Napa on Sunday, Feb. 1, for a town hall-style meeting and conversation with Mina Kim, host of KQED Forum, at Congregation Beth Shalom.
The event begins at 4 p.m.
Since the early 1990s, Liasson has reported from the frontlines of Washington, covering presidencies, scandals, shutdowns and social revolutions — and the transformation of U.S. politics.
Liasson will draw on her decades of experience to discuss the current political situation and address questions many of us are wondering as the new year begins: How did we get here, and what is ahead for democracy in the U.S.? How do reporters hold government officials to account in this age of polarization and a fractured media environment? What happens when the press — and truth itself — becomes a political target? And what can citizens do to restore democratic institutions?
Congressman Mike Thompson will introduce Liasson and Kim.
This event is a benefit for the Napa Valley News Group, which publishes the Calistoga Tribune, Yountville Sun, Conéctate and American Canyon Current as well as the paywall-free countywide Napa County Times website.
Tickets are $45 and $85 (for the first three rows).
A limited number of tickets for $250 include reserved seating and a wine reception and dinner following the talk.
