Forward progress of a 68-acre wildfire burning in a remote area north of Lake Berryessa was stopped by firefighters early Friday afternoon, Cal Fire officials said.

The Berry Fire was first reported at approximately 10:50 a.m. off of Berryessa Knoxville Road and began spreading at a moderate rate, said Jason Clay, spokesperson for Cal Fire Lake-Sonoma-Napa Unit, which is leading the response.

Ten engines, three bulldozers, two hand crews, four air tankers, two helicopters and five water tenders were dispatched to the scene. By 3:30 p.m., Clay said, the fire was 50% contained and that no evacuation warnings or orders had been issued.

The fire’s cause remained under investigation Friday afternoon, and injuries or damage to structures had been reported, he said.

“Any time there’s a wildfire, we want people who live in the area to know where to go and what resources to check out,” Clay said.

In the event of a wildfire, he said, up-to-date information and resources can be found at www.fire.ca.gov/, which includes maps and links to evacuation zones. If evacuation warnings or orders are given, Clay said, people can visit https://protect.genasys.com/, and type in their address to see where they live, relative to the zones.
